I've been a professional editor for over six years and in that time I've edited thousands of pieces of written work. I've also read several hundred books across science fiction, fantasy, and speculative fiction — and written a couple of my own. I'm looking to take on work that blends my skills and passion by providing editing services for indie authors like myself.
I bring a reader's instincts and an editor's eye to every manuscript. I know what makes a reader close a book in the first act, and I know how to help you find the version of your story that keeps them up past midnight. I work with indie authors specifically because I believe independently published SFF is producing some of the most interesting genre work being written right now — and those authors deserve editorial support that treats their work with the same rigor a traditional house would.
I'm expanding my editorial practice to fiction clients, and I price my work to reflect where I'm building this part of my practice. You get senior-level editorial craft at accessible rates while helping a fellow book nerd build her resume.
Big-picture stuff: story structure, pacing, character arc, plot logic, point-of-view, and world-building consistency. This is the edit that happens before you polish sentences and makes sure the bones of the book are sound.
Sentence-level crafting: prose rhythm, clarity, voice consistency, and the moments where your language is working against your story instead of for it. This is the edit that makes your writing take flight and gives it a heartbeat.
The little things: grammar, punctuation, internal consistency, style guide adherence, and the small factual errors that slip through when you've read your own manuscript fifty times. This is the edit that provides the polish.
The final pass before publication. Typos, formatting inconsistencies, and anything that slipped through copy edits — the last set of eyes before your book is in readers' hands.
Indie science fiction, horror, paranormal, and fantasy authors preparing to self-publish. I'm comfortable across the SFF spectrum — I enjoy work that takes risks: non-Western mythologies, morally complex characters, unconventional structures.
I work with author budgets. Rates vary by manuscript length and edit type — reach out and we'll find something that works.
Send me your genre, word count, where you are in the revision process, and what kind of support you're looking for. I'll get back to you within 48 business hours.
